Picture Day! :)

Our day started like all other days-we completed our morning procedures and got ourselves Ready to Learn. After i-Time, we greeted our friends and met for morning meeting. In meeting, we shared our favorite season and why it's our favorite (since today is the first day of fall) and played a new game-category challenge. We said the Pledge of Allegiance and then braced ourselves for a very differentiated Math Workshop. Some students took our first unit test as well as the pre-test for the next unit while others worked on reviewing for taking the unit test either tomorrow or Friday. Everyone worked really well with doing different things as well as determining that they were or were not ready to take the test. We had Art today and then lunch and recess. After recess, we went to the Media Center where Mrs. Dornburgh worked with us on identifying the characteristics of Science-Fiction and Fantasy texts. Students had time to look at some that interested them too. Maybe they'll pick one of these genres for their next book to read? We, then, headed down to get our pictures taken and then came back to our room with a little time left to read independently. In Writer's Workshop, we continued writing our small moment story and conferencing with me. Our day ended with working on our balance inquiry project in Science.
